Opening for Senior Estimator

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a relative degree and/or ten years of related work experience. They are responsible for accurate and timely preparation of estimates, and should have extensive knowledge of track construction means, methods, costs, engineering and industry principles.

Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator:

  • Organizational skills required to manage multiple estimates, as accurate and timely preparation is essential.
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
  • Develop productive relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Review and understand bid documents while also assessing project logistics, schedules, and risks.
  • Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Review quotes and estimates with the project management team.
  • Prepare estimates at different levels of completion.
  • Perform certain post-bid buyouts.
  • Perform pre-construction duties and meetings with clients, owners, subcontractors, and engineers.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience working on MTA projects or bids a plus.
  • Computer skills including:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Estimating software – HeavyBid experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of on-screen take-off software
  • Familiarity of all aspects of track construction and terminology.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate seamlessly.
  • Former field experience a bonus.
